【diplopia】症状に関する英語表現・複視【医学論文の英語表現】

ちょっとニッチすぎてコーパスですらあまり引っ掛かりませんが、diplopia(複視)に関する表現をみてみました。もう少し一般的な用語ではdouble visionと言ったりもしますね。

単語の意味と共起表現、クラスター

diplopiaは複視という意味で、神経内科・眼科疾患では時折使われる表現です。

症状の表現は簡単なものとしては

the patient had diplopia

the patient with diplopia

the patient reported diplopia

the patient noticed diplopia

などがシンプルでしょうか。

共起表現としてpersistent（持続的な～）やresolve（症状が消失した、改善した）、develop（症状が出てきた）などが出てきます。

一般的な症状の表現としてもこれらは使われるかなという印象です。

コーパスで出てきたような数少ない例文をみてみると

The diplopia had resolved by 1-month follow-up.

というような形で使われます。

また、これも例が少なかったですが、ある方向をみたときに複視が出るという話だと、"on"を使って

diplopia on left lateral gaze

のように書きます。

用例 

これは症例報告というより、研究において症状を減らす、という意味合いですね。

corticoid therapy can reduce the diplopia*1

病変の部位を示して、「~による複視」といった表現はよく見られます。

diplopia caused by a paresis of the left abducens nerve*2

diplopia caused by pontine tegmen- tum lesion*3
